Ceramic Whistles

Rutigliano is also known for its unique tradition of ceramic whistles.

These are often shaped like animals, mainly birds, are decorative and functional, producing musical sounds when blown. The artisans are continuing their family and town cultural heritage since generations as the traditional methods of making these ceramic whistles add to the town’s cultural identity.

The making of ceramic whistles is considered folk art and artisans of Rutigliano take pride in creating these whimsical and charming pieces. Visitors seek out these unique handmade ceramic whistles as souvenirs, providing an authentic and tangible connection to the town’s artistic heritage.
